National Stewardship Conferences

The National Stewardship Conference, held every three years in one of the provinces of our partners, is another avenue through which stewards across Canada come together to share information and their experiences.

The next conference is tentatively slated for 2012 and will build on the progress and learning of the previous four national conferences.

Each of the past conferences has further strengthened Canada's stewardship network and helped advance Canada's Stewardship Agenda:

  • 2000 Conference in Guelph, Ontario focused on the key themes and issues of the draft of Canada's Stewardship Agenda, with recommendations from the conference incorporated into the final CSA.
  • 2003 Conference in Victoria, BC produced a set of recommendations and facilitated the development of strategic stewardship plans for individual provinces.
  • 2006 Conference in Corner Brook, Newfoundland produced a declaration on stewardship.
  • 2009 Conference in Calgary, Alberta resulted in the creation of the Stewardship Road Map for Canada based on input from delegates and other stewards across Canada.
